Group visits

Thank you for your interest in organising a group visit to Anglesey Sea Zoo!

We are based on the shores of the Menai Strait, in an area of outstanding natural beauty with the world’s best views of the Snowdonia Mountain Range – a perfect location for visiting groups for just a few hours, or the whole day!

We welcome group bookings all year round for parties of ten or more. Pre-booking for groups is not essential but is highly recommended, particularly during school holidays as the aquarium can get very busy at these times.

Please if possible give us two weeks notice if your group visit is as part of a school.

Guides and carers are admitted free of charge, as are other supervisory adults to a maximum of one to every ten paying visitors. This admission provides access to the whole site for the whole day, including all talks and feeds in the aquarium, which are scheduled and confirmed on a weekly basis. We also offer free coach parking and driver incentives.

For more information or to enquire about a group visit please call 01248 430 411 or email post@angleseyseazoo.co.uk.

Local seas

Anglesey Sea Zoo is exceptional because we house entirely British species here. We aim to show a vast variety of British marine life as it has never been seen before, and also invest in conservation and research projects. All the water for our tanks comes directly from the Menai Strait on our doorstep and we work with local fishermen, community and voluntary groups and NGOs to carry out our vital educational and environmental work, conservation and research. We are proud of our Welsh heritage and we enjoy sharing our passion for British seas and marine life with our visitors of all ages and backgrounds!

Packages

We have pre-bookable bespoke additional packages to compliment your visit, such as guided tours and specialized lectures, or for those who wish to be more hands-on you can participate in a group activity such as a seashore safari or beach clean. These cater for all groups from pre-schoolers to postgraduates and even U3A! Visitors can get up close and personal to fascinating species including octopus, seahorses, catsharks, and skates, and even learn interesting facts about more common species like mussels and limpets.

Discover

Many British people nowadays are oblivious to the wildlife which lies off their own shores. We have carefully recreated the habitats from around the British coastline to enable our visitors to experience life in our native seas without getting their feet wet! From a colourful reef covered in invertebrates to life in the open ocean with our big fish kelp forest full of huge sea bass and bream, and an eerie shipwreck, we expose our visitors to the best of British marine life. Visitors can also learn about our breeding and conservation programmes from the captive breeding and release programme in our Lobster Hatchery of Wales to our unique British Seahorse breeding nursery.

Facilities

Our fully licensed Rockpool Café and gift shop are also available to non-aquarium visitors. The Rockpool Café serves only local or fairtrade foods, all made fresh on site and simply delicious, while our gift shop specializes in unusual but nautically nice gifts for all purses and fair trade products.

There are also plenty of picnic tables around the site for those who wish to make the most of the stunning views, and for our visitors with more energy and enthusiasm there is an adventure playground, bouncy castle and Crazy Golf course.

The entire site is wheelchair accessible, click here for our Access Statement.
